Carbon Limiting Technologies provides expert consulting services:

  • Designing and managing incubation / acceleration programmes for public and private sector clients to commercialise innovative new low carbon or cleantech technologies.
  • International consulting on green finance, climate and energy innovation projects for countries including India, Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.   
  • Supporting venture teams to find routes to market and to grow; conducting due diligence for investors.
  • Advising corporates on their innovation and investment strategies.

The company specialises in the cleantech sector and since 2006 CLT’s consultants have worked with entrepreneurs, industry and government to help clean tech businesses succeed and accelerate low carbon technologies to market. We are the lead delivery partner for the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy’s Energy Entrepreneurs Fund (EEF) which incubates entrepreneurs that have received technology development grants. We work with companies innovating across the Renewables, Energy Networks, Buildings, DSR, Transport, Industry, CCUS, and Waste & Water sectors. You can see who we have worked with here.

Over the last 2 years CLT has expanded its international presence, delivering work in Brazil, Mexico, Ghana and India as well as being selected as the official innovation partner for the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi. We have also recently been selected to deliver a multimillion-pound energy innovation programme in Latin America.

The Clean Growth Fund launched in May 2020 is a £40 million venture capital fund that invests in early-stage innovative cleantech high growth companies.  CGF and CLT share an office and CLT provides support to CGF including pipeline, techno-market due diligence and support to portfolio companies.

The CLT consultancy team all have backgrounds in science and technology as well having held commercial and senior corporate management roles. The team brings extensive combined experience in complementary areas of technology development and commercialisation, new venture incubation, business development, venture capital, consulting, and corporate venturing.

We offer practical assistance based on hands-on experience in business growth and technology commercialisation.

The Opportunity

CLT is seeking an experienced individual to undertake Bid Writing and lead the wider business development activity to grow our consulting services – UK and overseas. This role gives exposure to the new technologies being developed and experience of working with cleantech innovative SMEs, placing the successful candidate at the cutting edge of science and technology.

We aim to build the business in the following areas:

  • Incubation and acceleration programmes for public and private service sector clients both in the UK and internationally.
  • Building relationships with new strategic clients.
  • Green finance consultancy – developing strategies for financing green projects and identifying barriers to green project development.
  • Strategic partnerships with high-profile climate conferences and major low carbon events.

CLT has a small core team and offers you the opportunity to get involved with and shape our growing domestic and international business. You will have an opportunity to contribute to the energy transition. This role gives you exposure to the new technologies being developed and experience of working with cleantech innovative SMEs, placing you at the cutting edge of science and technology.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver effective tender documents to bid for contracts including writing compelling responses and manage strategic responses to larger bids.
  • Support the CEO and fellow members of the senior team regarding the growth and future plans for the consulting business.
  • Contribute / lead the Business Development activities for CLT including: customer relationship management, building new relationships with strategic customers from government, corporates, investors and the SME community.
  • Identifying and following up new business opportunities
  • Assist in building CLT’s international consulting services business with public (FCO Prosperity Fund, DFID, World Bank) and private clients.
  • Contribute to CLTs global messaging strategy including representing CLT at events and conferences, managing the CRM database, CLT website and ensuring a social media presence.

The Person

The individual will have extensive previous experience of Bid Writing and business development, with a background and track record of winning bids in the cleantech sector.

Previous experience in technology commercialisation, high growth start-ups or creating corporate spin outs, and working with public sector organisations would also be valuable.

  • Motivated and driven individual with a successful track record of writing winning tenders and bids.
  • Likely to be somebody who has worked in a consulting environment and has experience of developing business with the Public Sector, corporates and SMEs/start-ups both in the UK and internationally.
  • Experience and track record of complex consulting sales, of varying sizes, often to tight deadlines.
  • Expert communicator with adaptive writing styles to suit different audiences
  • Working knowledge (including how funding and policy work) of a broad range of clean tech sectors including energy generation, efficiency, storage, transport, industry, materials, buildings, and waste.
  • Excellent time-management and prioritsation skills; comfortable responding quickly and effectively to opportunities when they are identified.
  • Strong networking skills, ideally having existing relationships with potential clients, collaboration partners and funding organisations.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and an ability to build lasting business relationships.
  • A team player, who thrives in a small team environment and is comfortable collaborating with Senior Managers.
  • Additional experience in forming consortia, project design and budgeting, would be an advantage.
  • Self-starter with drive and motivation. Organised and efficient, and with an open and collaborative style.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office capabilities with experience of using IT packages to enhance tender documents and wider communication material including powerpoint diagrams.
  • Presentations skills to share project outcomes and represent CLT at conferences / events

Reporting to: The successful candidate will become a full-time employee of CLT reporting to the CEO.
