CLT presents at EPRI Energy Innovation Forum

CLT’s CEO Beverley Gower-Jones presented new solutions to the cleantech commercialisation challenge at the International Regulatory and Policy Energy Innovation Forum, hosted in Paris by EPRI on 15 October 2019. CLT is the only UK-based incubator in EPRI’s global IncubatEnergy Network.

Beverley described what kinds of commercialisation support best accelerate clean technologies to market and discussed six critical activities to unlocking commercial progress. She outlined the contextual factors that influence commercialisation and how they need to work together to accelerate the uptake of clean technology  – a dynamic called “co-evolution”.

The Forum is the prelude to inaugural Electrification Europe Summit, jointly hosted by EPRI and the EDF from 16-17 October 2019. The Summit also hosts a Start-up Village which features companies supported by the BEIS Energy Entrepreneurs Fund, including Mixergy, Pumped Heat and European Thermodynamics.

The Summit provides a unique opportunity to address how efficient electrification can transform the global energy landscape while helping to achieve international climate reduction targets. With end-use electrification possible in virtually every industry sector, discussions will focus on solutions and innovations that are feasible now, affordable, efficient, support a low-carbon path, and still meet customer needs.

Alongside the Summit is the Sixth Annual EPRI-IEA Challenges in Electricity Decarbonisation Expert Workshop, taking place on 17 October 2019. It will focus on the growing number of mid-century electric sector emissions targets announced by governments and electric utilities throughout the world, near- and long-term strategies to achieve those targets, and potential challenges likely to be encountered along the way.
